After a late start from Nairobi we had lunch in Nakuru. It rained heavily in Kericho so we had to take shelter in a petrol station, rode on through Kisumu and we're spending the night in Siaya.

Spent the morning touring Siaya town as Specimen Espira Munywele had his meetings, then proceeded to Busia where we crossed into Uganda, from there it was a fast ride through the rain and sunshine to Soroti. Tomorrow we proceed to Karamoja

Tough 200 km offroad ride to Kaabong via Kotido. It was an interesting tour through Karamoja. Our improvised repairs on the front forks seem to have worked. Tomorrow we hope to get to Kidepo Valley National Park. Today's ride was a real eye opener I had expected Karamoja to be a very dry and inhospitable area similar to Turkana in Kenya but it's a lush and fertile area with long grass and millet plantations . Uganda really is the pearl of Africa.

Spent the Afternoon doing a game drive in Kidepo National Park, lots of wildlife

Katurum lodge in Kidepo Valley National Park was built in the 1970's by Idi Amin, it even had a bunker for him. After he was overthrown the lodge was abandoned and vandalised. A Ugandan entrepreneur Mr Kodet has now leased it from the UWA and is rehabilitating it to its former glory. It's not yet opened as construction is ongoing but we are the first guests to stay here courtesy of the Kodet family.

Kidepo Valley extends across the border into the lawless South Sudan. Today we got an armed escort and rode north to Maji Moto at the South Sudan border
